AAA batteries are commonly used in small electronic devices such as TV remote controls, MP3 players, and digital cameras. These devices, which operate at the same voltage, require higher currents and use larger AA batteries. AA batteries have three times the capacity of AAA batteries. However, with the increasing efficiency and miniaturization of modern electronics, many products designed to use AA batteries are being replaced by models that accept AAA batteries. An AAA battery is 44.5 mm long and 10.5 mm in diameter. AAA alkaline batteries weigh approximately 11.5 grams each, while AAA lithium batteries weigh approximately 7.6 grams, and rechargeable (Ni-MH) batteries typically weigh between 14 and 15 grams. The nominal voltage of AAA alkaline and lithium batteries is 1.5 V, while that of Ni-MH or NiCd batteries is 1.2 V. The capacity of alkaline AAA batteries is typically 900 to 1155 mAh (3240 to 4158 coulombs).
